Quotable Kids

Bryce has been getting in the habit lately of climbing into our bed in the middle of the night. Sometimes, it's because he's gotten up to use the bathroom. Sometimes, he gets cold. Sometimes, he just wants to.

We've been encouraging him to sleep on our floor, in a sleeping bag. It was sorta working.

Then we decided to bribe behavior mod him. We told him that if he stayed in his bed ALL NIGHT for 3 nights in a row, we'd buy him "fry fries" (french fries). Fries are a huge treat for him. We had success!  Then, we let the treat part go and for about a week, he stayed in bed at night all on his own. Over the holiday weekend, he was climbing in bed with us by 6:30 or so, which was tolerable because that's his normal wake up time. But he stayed in bed otherwise.

Until this morning. Brad had a talk with him last night about remembering to stay in his own bed, and if he did it 3 nights in a row, he'd get fries.

5:29AM today. I hear little feet run into our room and Bryce stands next to me and says, "Mom, I don't want fry fries."   And he climbed into our bed!!  sigh.

  1. Aw, that's too cute! Well, at least you tried. :) But I don't think I would have passed up french fries for anything.
