Allergy Safe Play Dough

Bryce's food allergies are severe enough that he is contact reactive to many things-including wheat. This means that a lot of common art supplies are not Bryce-safe, including play doughs. I have made a few types of play doughs for him and they work for the most part, but have a grainy texture. One recipe is NOT a good one for summer's high humidity, and another recipe smells funny, and the third recipe uses a LOT of rice flour and that's expensive. Finding (good!!) allergy safe play dough is tough!

Then we discovered Crayola Model Magic. It states it's wheat free right on the package. It's good stuff, but the texture is a bit odd and it's very expensive. (About $8 for three 2 ounces packages)

We were in Meijer and found a new Crayola dough called My First Soft Dough. We scanned the packaging and found that it doesn't contain wheat. A quick check of the website also showed that it was Bryce safe. Best part of this new dough? It's inexpensive and comes in SIX colors. I can't say enough nice things about this play dough. It's got a nice texture to it, is very soft, the colors blend well and (so far) it doesn't seem to stain clothing. It was inexpensive, too-we paid $4 for three 5.6 ounce tubs. SCORE.

Here's a link to this awesome stuff:

I should add that I wrote this review because I really like the product. Crayola has not sent me any product to try, nor are they paying me for my opinion.
