We're So Excited!

Brendan got his first marching band experience this past weekend. The high school has the 8th graders march with them at a football game-to get their feet wet and to drum up (pun intended!) new recruits for next year. Brad and I, having met in college marching band, have always told the kids that marching band (and band in general) is a requirement in this house. Just like church and just like Scouts. These are things that we value and our music experience made who we are today in so many ways. (well so did church and Scouts, but this is a post about band!).

Here's some shots of our kiddo in a rehearsal block. I should note that he is 5'9" tall; that clarinetist next to him is VERY tall!!

The marching band has this little dance they do; they taught it to the 8th graders. Brendan is not a fan of dancing, but  when you're in a group that has a dance---YOU dance! (i was pleased he did NOT put my flute down on the pavement!)

Bryce had to sneak into a shot! This is the band at attention. Sort of. Mostly, anyway.

It was a beautiful night for football. It rained prior to pre-game, but the game itself was dry and temps were in the low 50's. Gorgeous!
We are so pleased that he had a fun night, that his friends had a fun night and honestly, nothing pleases me more than sitting in the stands and being a Band Parent. All those years of fun we both had in high school and college marching band are so ingrained in who we are and now Brendan gets to have his own band experience. FUN!!!!!
