Garden Harvest & Update October 9

This week I hit my goal of 200lbs of produce from my little 320sq ft of beds. I have to say, I even impressed myself! It's sad that Fall is here and things will be grinding to a halt in the garden soon, but for now we're still enjoying those cool-season veggies!

This was the BEST red pepper I had all season! I didn't even know I had one turning red...it fell off when I brushed past it. Tomatoes are slowly but surely turning red and the Anaheims & Jalepenos keep on producing.

Some good lookin' cabbage-these 3 weighed in at just over 4lbs. YUM! Cauliflower has been steadily producing, and here's the last of my "big" tomatoes. They are reddening up in my kitchen as we speak.

I pulled the Jalepeno plants and picked all the peppers worth picking. I did not pick a peck of peppers, however. (lol!). I'm not sure I'll grow these next year; my Anheims were much stronger producers and required less fussing from me.

We also managed to harvest a sinkhole in our side yard. After much digging, it's likely that the sink hole was caused by an improperly filled in septic field/tank. We now have to rent a plate compactor and order some fill dirt & topsoil and fill it up. The joys of living in an old house on old farmland!!!
Here's the hole, fully excavated, viewed from out our bedroom window. Lovely, isn't it? And yes, that is Bryce's scooter parked conveniently by the dirt pile. Sigh. The boy loves dirt!
