Solo & Ensemble Festival

Today's the day. Brendan's first Solo & Ensemble Festival. He was reluctant refusing to participate initially. Both Brad and I told him---without consulting each other---that he had no choice. He HAD to perform.

Now that's some good parenting, right? Forcing our kid to perform a solo? I'll put a buck in the therapy jar later.

We both performed at Solo & Ensemble as kids. It's a good thing to do. It's good to learn some stage prescence, to learn to be critiqued, to enjoy improving your skills. You also get shiny medals if you score a rating of I or II. So take that, Brendan!

After much practicing and coaching harping on by me, Brendan played well.

And earned a rating of "I" --1st Division, Blue medal---THE BEST!!! The only comments made by his judge (a WMU grad--GO BRONCOS!) were positive ones.

Great job, Brendan.

Oh, as a bonus---as we were leaving, Brendan said, "I get to do this for 5 more years?" (my emphasis)

Yes Brendan, yes you do.
