Lots of stuff going on over here.
Brett had his first soccer game yesterday, which required a winter coat, hat and gloves in order to not develop frostbite. I should mention is was 84 degrees on Thursday, then about 35 on Saturday morning. BRRRR! Brett scored a goal. Captain Underpants has made a resurgence here, too. Brett's been flying around the house in his cape & undies this weekend-a LOT.
Brendan started another merit badge required for Eagle: Environmental Science. It's over at Nankin Mills (home of the failed Marshmallow Drop) and lucky for him-2 of his friends from school are also taking the 4 week class. He, too, was freezing yesterday as they hiked in Hines looking at, well, nature! He acatually had a little homework this weekend-a persuasive essay. He knocked that off in under 30 minutes.
Bryce has been doing a little bit of mimicking lately. I told his speech therapist that I don't think he mimics or copies what we say because he just doesn't see the point. If I ask him if he wants garbanzo beans, he signs "yes". Why would he say "garbanzo beans" if I've already said it? Brett didn't do much mimicking, either. Brendan was talking in full-on sentences so much earlier that I don't even know what he did. Bryce has also developed an affinity for birds. Especially Brett's 2 Webkinz that are a sparrow and a blue jay. He LOVES these things! They make cute little bird sounds and they "talk" to each other. He just cracks us up.
Brad took the older boys to Bass Pro Shops to round out his camping/fishing gear. He got a sweet cot from him parents for his birthday and needed a new sleeping bag to go with it. The cot is GIGANTIC and what's the point of having a gigantic cot with a regular sized sleeping bag, anyway? They had some kids events going on at Bass Pro Shops so the kids had lots of stuff to do while Brad shopped. Happy 41, dear!
As for me-what did I do this weekend? Not a heck of a lot. I made an awesome sausage spaghetti that was mostly a bomb. Brett only would eat plain noodles, and while Brad and Brendan both ate it without complaint, I know that Brad prefers a more traditional sauce and Brendan-well, I think he liked it. I honestly never asked. It was under $5 for the dinner for all of us; the noodles were free at Meijer last week, the sausage was about $1 from a month or so ago and the tomatoes were under $1, too.
