We Went, We Saw, We Conquered.

Because the older boys had no school due to it being Election Day, we walked up to our local McDonald's for dinner. This is a very BIG DEAL. Since the diagnosis of Bryce's multiple and severe food allergies, we have not been in any restaurant as a family. The risk of him reacting was too high.

He's been doing better with his contact reactions to wheat (in that he hasn't had any) and we picked a time (4:30) when there would be few people in the restaurant. Breakfast was done being served at 10:30, so I figured the ambient egg proteins should've cleared out by 4:30. Airborne egg allergy isn't something to mess with.

Bryce ate french fries. We discovered this summer (through trial-no error) that the potential for reaction from fries seems to be zero. As the fries are cooked in oil which also cooks the wheat-covered chicken nuggets, we worried that he'd get trace wheat. He might indeed get trace wheat from the fries, but he hasn't reacted. Whew.

This particular McDonald's does not have a playscape; they have video games and an air hockey table. He had fun running around and touching all the video games, something he's really not allowed to do at home.

I'll call the trip a success. We came, we ate, we didn't react.
