Allergy Information In Non-Food Products.

Food allergies affect all areas of life. One of the lesser thought of areas is non-food items, such as craft materials. Play-doh brand contains a statement on the little tubs that it contains wheat. Nice one, Play-doh! Most crafty companies, however, aren't as user-friendly as Play-doh. You have to check out their website for more information.

I bought Bryce some Crayola No-Drip Gel Paint today, thinking that he could use it like finger paints. After a bit of digging, I found an FAQ page that had this information:

The exact ingredients of our products are proprietary, however, we are happy to provide you with the most common ingredient requests NOT FOUND in products currently manufactured by Crayola. This list does not include Crayola official licensed products. Please check packaging carefully to determine the manufacturer.

Peanuts & Legumes
Shellfish
Fish
Tree Nuts
Eggs & Egg Shell
Milk
Casein
Nut & Nut Oil
Latex*

*Latex gloves are one of the personal protection options requested by and available to our employees for the occasional handling of raw materials and finished goods during the product manufacturing process.

Gluten (wheat flour) is contained only in Crayola Dough. Other Crayola modeling materials, including Model Magic modeling compound, Modeling Clay, Air-Dry Clay, and Model Magic Fusion are gluten free. All of these products, however, are produced on the same machinery. Although the machines are cleaned prior to the start of each production run, there is a slight possibility that trace amounts of gluten from Crayola Dough may be present in the other modeling compound products.

For additional assistance, please call us at 1-800

I like that they list what is NOT in their products, that they list exceptions and that they do give a 1-800 number to call if you have further questions. Personally, I'd prefer they just put this info on the packaging to save me time, but I understand that it's not required and I'm capable of looking it up on a website.

Overall-good job, Crayola.
