Lego Castle @ The Henry Ford.

We didn't travel to Chicago for Thanksgiving which means the boys are missing out on some very cool museums; we decided to hit the local museums here instead. We do have quite a few nice museums here in the greater Hockeytown area, and the boys picked The Henry Ford as our stop today. They are hosting a travelling Lego Castle exhibit that sounded fun.

Lego Castle is likely intended for children 12 and under. They have a lot of VERY cool Lego builds scattered throughout the museum, the main Castle exhibit and a cool city scene complete with trains set up adjacent to the trains. If you go on Saturdays (or Black Friday), kids 5 and up can build a Model T Ford-a design exclusive to The Henry Ford. Or, for $20, you can build it AND take it home. TIP: save your money. It's $20, which is a lot for a small Lego set and when you complete it, you turn it in and they give you a set of directions to make it at home out of your own parts.

Brendan zipped through the project, Brett required a little help. It is actually a more complex model and I would think it's more for 8 and up-at least. There were several parents struggling with it and Brendan helped them.

Here's the boys with their completed "Carmine Red" 1909 Model T Ford (did you know before Henry Ford made his famous statement, "They can have any color they want as long as it's black" that many of their early models were red?)

Bryce went CRAZY for the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. He thought it was a bus and frantically signed "bus" "bus" "bus" over and over. Too cute.

This knight greets you as you enter Lego Castle:

They had a LOT of Lego builds all over the Museum. Here's a few favorites:
