How can it be soccer season? Spring season just ended! Well, it ended in June and it's August, so I guess it's time. Just our middle boy will be playing this year, and on a new team to boot. He'll be playing with 2 friends from public school and 1 friend from Montessori. It's the big leagues this year-he moved up to U7-GOALIES! Kids U6 and younger play mostly 3v3 or sometimes 4v4, no goalies. Should be interesting to see how he does at his turn as netminder.
Our oldest has decided to hang up his cleats which is both good and bad. On the one hand, we no longer have to juggle his soccer schedule into our daily chaos. The flip side is that it represents our last efforts to get him involved in team sports. He's really not a jock and we've tried several team sports. Soccer hung on the longest. We'll sign him up for curling and swimming. Gotta keep kids active!
The one thing I really don't like about soccer is that it turns me into a howling maniac. Not at the games-there I'm just an obnoxious, sports-loving Mom. No-I'm a howling maniac at home trying to get 3 boys out the door for practice! AGH. If you were to eavesdrop about 45 minutes before we head out, you'd only hear me (yelling) "let's go!" or "I don't care if you play barefoot, your cleats are NOT my responsibility!" or another gem "If I yell one more time-privileges disappear!"
So, soccer season Fall 2009 here we come. Time for me to get a grip on the schedule before it becomes Yelling Season 2009.
