Brett hasn't seen a Dr. in 2 years. All the boys are exceptionally healthy and miss very little school each year. As a result, Brett hasn't been in since age 4. He's grown quite a bit since then, both physically and emotionally. There are a series of booster vaccines children can receive between ages 4-6 and due to Brett's needle phobia I declined them at age 4 which meant today's visit would include 3 vaccines. (MMR, DTap, Polio. We skipped Varicella)
They brought in 2 medical assistants to give 2 shots concurrently followed by the remaining shot. He cried and I had to hold him-but not restrain him. Quite an improvement. I gave him 3 quarters when it was over (yes, I bribed him and I'm proud of it!) and while he was still insulted at the injustice of it all, he was happy to have some cold hard cash.
Stats, for those who are interested: height 50.75 inches (98%) and weight 69lbs (99%). He's a big boy.
