Peachy Keen!!!

Peach-palooza!!!!  My friend G, and I canned 1 full bushel of peaches. 26 quarts in all. We also did 10 half-pints of pepper jelly and 10 half-pints of rasberry jam (for G's family). It took the better part of a day and we were tired by the end, but we had a nice time.  Here's some "action" shots:

First up was blanching & peeling & pitting the peaches. That was the bulk of the work!

First batch in the canner on the right, blanching in the smaller pot on the left. You can see my Gramma's salt & pepper shakers on the top of the stove. LOVE that I have those.

First batch out to cool. We learned that we didn't pack them tightly enough, so the next batches we REALLY packed tightly!

Then we took a break from peaches and made the pepper jelly for my BFF.

Sorry it's blurry!!  This is all the peaches, plus the pepper jelly, plus the rasberry jam. YUMMY!! One jar broke in the canner and we had 1 pint of leftover peaches. I already ate those. OMGosh are they good!

The never-ending dishes you have when you can. Bowls for peelings, bowls for cooling, bowls for pitted peaches, bowls for the bowls.... (just kidding).  My friend G did the dishes--thank you!!!
