Sickie, Part Two.

Sharing is a good concept for kids to learn. Except where germs are concerned!

Brendan "shared" his flu with Bryce. Brendan got over the worst of his flu in about days, Bryce, not so much. He has been sick since Jan 21, so we're on Day Five. We thought he'd turned the corner yesterday because he was fever free the entire day.

We were wrong.

After a very rough night, Bryce had a 101.6 temp this morning. A trip to the Doc today revealed he has developed a secondary infection---double, severe ear infections and he's been put on antibiotics.

Great. The antibiotics have us fearful for the return of c.diff. The Dr put him on a sulfa drug, which she says has less association with C.diff than other antibiotics. Interestingly, she told us that given his history of being dehydrated and requiring IV fluids when ill, it makes him a prime candidate for Tamiflu at the first sign of flu. Well, that's great to know NOW, way too late to give Tamiflu.

Hopefully, the drugs will do the trick and he'll back to his usual tricks in a few days. Oh-one more "gem" the Dr shared with us. As the flu goes from family member to family member, it packs a more powerful punch and each subsequent victim is sicker longer than the previous person. She said to expect him to be sick 7-10 days. Poor kid!
