It's January.
It's 9 degrees outside. Even colder if you factor in wind chill, which I won't because well, isn't 9 cold enough?
So why am I writing about ice cream?
Because Bryce finally ate some!!!!
I discovered some coconut "ice cream" (really, it's pretty good, made from coconut milk and heavily vanilla flavored) when I cleaned out my top freezer last week. I had purchased it for an ice cream social at church. Last year. Ahem. June of last year.
I tried it before I gave it to him---it was fine people!
After dinner one night this week, Brett had a small bowl of some leftover neopolitan. Leftover because it's neopolitan! We're all-chocolate kind of people.
Anyway, persistance pays off. I learned in feeding therapy that we just have to keep offering food to Bryce. The same food. Over and over and over. Every food that he's learned to eat has taken time. Lots of time. Ice cream has been tried repeatedly over 7months, so for this food, he's sped up his time table a little bit.
Did he polish off an entire bowl and ask for more? Nope. Did he eat several spoonfuls, without help or comments from the rest of us? Yep. With a wooden spoon--his choice.
Progress folks. Progress.
