I looked up the word "triumph" in the dictionary. This is what it said:
1. To be victorious or successful; win.
2. To rejoice over a success or victory; exult
Both definitions apply to an accomplishment of Bryce's this week.
It's all about BANANAS. Really? Bananas? Yep. Bryce triumphed over bananas this week.
What exactly is there to be excited about? Bryce is actually-willingly-eating bananas. In the shape in which God created them. Not pureed, not dried, not freeze-dried, but fresh & sliced up.
This is a HUGE deal for a child who truly eats no fruit or vegetable in the form they grow. He eats a lot of fruits and vegetables in the form of purees (think babyfood). He has been licking and spitting out and gagging on whole fruits & vegetables for virtually his entire life.
So yes, that Bryce will and DOES take a piece of banana, put it in his mouth, chew it and swallow it--and not gag or throw up--is a triumph. It's a victory. It's something worth blogging about because it is HUGE in the world of food allergies and oral aversions.
Hopefully, triumph over bananas will turn into triumph over strawberries. Or maybe watermelon. Or peas. Or carrots. Victory over food!
