It's a hot one today-kissing 90-and I finally caved and let Bryce plant his corn seeds. I was not interested in growing corn as the last time we grew it, it developed corn smut and it was just not worth it. Too much space for such low yield. Bryce wanted corn last year and I kept telling him no. Fast forward to Easter this year and we took the kids to Meijer to spend some of the Easter money they'd been gifted.
Brendan bought some pop & snacks.
Brett bought something for the Wii.
Bryce bought bologna and corn seeds.
Yup. Bologna and corn seeds. What can I say, the kid knows what he likes! I am not counting his corn in my harvest totals because I just don't want to. Well, if the corn produces many ears I might reconsider.
I also (finally!) got the new asparagus crowns planted, 15 Mary Washington. They went into the defunct asparagus bed and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Here's a photo:
Some other action in the garden:
Peas, about 8' of peas. They were planted out in 2 stages, so the March planted ones are starting to climb and the April planted ones are about 2" tall.
